Mapping good LHP songs

LHP, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2017 at 2pm at just after the 14 minute mark. Audrey Assad "I shall not want" LHP, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2017 at 2pm at just after the 20 minute mark. a gruesome death you died for me one could barely recognize your You were whipped for my rebellion Beaten ... Like a lamb led to the slaughter, you were killed cause I was wrong And I trace the scars of your love for me A constant reminder of what I mean You bore the stripes so that I know peace Oh wounded healer How I love you Jesus And the wounds upon your hands and feed Will mark you for eternity A fountain's opened up Where blood and water flow And I run to find my cleansing I run to be made whole (carl jung? weird... audrey assad has one by this title too) LHP, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2017 at 2pm at 25 minutes. and he prays that my faith would not fail always living to intercede with groanings too deep to be uttered there is a power that is greater a force that is

Things I would tell Blair

If we are moving from heart emotions to deeds, it would be helpful to notice how A is primarily concerned with heart-outcome and B is primarily concerned with deed-outcome. Did he add verse 19:21 because it completed the proverb pair? Proverbs 16:20 He always takes this (whoever gives thought to the word will discover good) as referring only to "the word" as in like just the word of God, instead of it being translated as "a saying" or "one's speech".  But the original proverb is more generic.  It definitely includes giving thought to the words of God.  (And from an a fortiori  argument [from the lesser to the greater], one could say this one underscores its importance.  i.e. if it is this important to give thought to the sayings of the wise in general, or to our own speech, how much more important is it for us to give thought to the words of God.) The proverbs 24:23 reference makes no sense.(9.23, 12:06)

In the secret of His presence

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo1wIc8qcvE Sandra McCracken sings this too, but her syncopation is too hard to match. In the secret of His presence how my soul delights to hide! Oh, how precious are the lessons which I learn at Jesus' side! Earthly cares can never vex me, neither trials lay me low; For when Satan comes to tempt me, to the secret place I go, To the secret place I go. When my soul is faint and thirsty, 'neath the shadow of His wing There is cool and pleasant shelter, and a fresh and crystal spring; And my Savior rests beside me, as we hold communion sweet: If I tried, I could not utter what He says when thus we meet, What He says when thus we meet. Only this I know: I tell Him all my doubts, my griefs and fears; Oh, how patiently He listens! and my drooping soul He cheers: Do you think He ne'er reproves me? What a false Friend He would be, If He never, never told me of the sins which He must see, Of the sins which He must see. Would you like to know

A6 (Part 2) Social stuff

C1: This is framed by two wisdom  proverbs (bold below) 15 The simple believes everything,     but the prudent gives thought to his steps. 16 One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil,     but a fool is reckless and careless.[ BW: "is angry and yet feels secure"]  17 A man of quick temper acts foolishly ,     and a man of evil devices is hated. 18 The simple inherit folly ,     but the prudent are crowned with knowledge. A few notes about the above:  - Obviously, the frame verses (16 and 18) are concerned with the simple vs the prudent.  - The "folly"/"foolishly" at the end of 17a and 18a is a pun in the Hebrew  - BW's interpretation of 16b thus links it with 17a and he sees two fools sandwiched between the wisdom frame. Now backing out, I am wondering whether you can say that lack of prudence, mixed with a bit of simplicity, actually leads to this quick temper.  I think of Mike or the pundits.  People who are "an

A2: The Treasures and Troubles of Toil and Tongue

The core theme of this unit is that wealth and speech aren't minor things in the kingdom, but matters of life and death.  Consider the concluding quatrain (10:15-16) and the way wealth and life are connected. But don't start (or make the main emphasis) the frame (vv 2-5 & vv 15-16).  The heart of the section is vv. 6-14, concerning speech.  And the Janus would be a good verse to start with as it kind of lies at the heart of the unit: "Whoever winks the eye causes trouble, and a babbling fool will come to ruin." (v. 10) It's good because it's short and memorable and not paired with another verse.  It has the cause-consequence nexus, mentions speech, and implicitly, wealth & life/death. Not to mention, it's a synthetic verse, rare in this section.  So, it's an easy theme verse.  The image, or title of the sermon could be something off of the "fountain" theme of the next verse.  "An unexpected fountain."  And would mak

Song blogging week 2

"In the Bleak Midwinter" is the latest song by the Getty's (besides the Merker / Kauflin / Getty version of Psalm 130 that rips David Ward). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hs9-Sxf9j4 Link above is King's College singing it.

New camera

Right now the d5 mark ii is trending at $600. (Body only relatively low shutter count. Pictures seem better than the original model on pp. They are incredible. But the 85mm f1.2 ii lens is too expensive.  New is $1800.  And used is no less than half that.  Besides, sometimes the small DoF can actually be a detriment says one reviewer and I can definitely understand that.  Also, one person points out that for toddler photos, the subject will be out of focus.  They said the 50mm 1.2 was vastly better for that.

"How Rich a Treasure We Possess" This one sounds so similar to "Lift High the Name of Jesus".  The melody of the verses and the way that both of them play it on an "Open E" (i.e., no 3rd/G#).  Yet I really like this song. Fernando Ortega . Keith and Kristen Getty feature Fernando Ortega on their most recent album.  This guy's hymns are among the best.  Fernando and Audry Assad are sort of the pop-level entry to some of the hymns world.  Much more than a band like Page CXVI.  Some how their reach has really extended far.  Ortega songs get covered by IHOP; Audry Assad literally sang at one of their yearly events (Onething). Your church's greatest instrument Your church's greatest instrument is the voice of the congregation. https://twitter.com/MatthewTyler674/status/1036363346860232704 This is amazing! I really miss this group of people.  They just love  to sing this way at the end of a song.  The trick here is to leave the acapella ti
